Details of this retreat

Are you searching for clarity that lasts beyond a temporary fix? Do you sense there is something deeper—a real transformation, not just another workshop?
Imagine immersing yourself in a 21-day silent retreat at a serene Indian Ashram—completely free from digital distractions, daily responsibilities, and mental clutter. Supported daily by the presence of Madhukar, your mind falls silent and your heart opens.

In Madhukar’s presence and guidance, you experience a tranquil state of consciousness. That enhances wisdom and nurtures your mind towards inner peace. Madhukar is a direct disciple of Papaji (Sri H.W.L. Poonja), the "Lion of Lucknow," whose guru was the famous sage of Arunachala, Sri Ramana Maharshi. The serene beauty of Arunachala is the place for this courageous dive into oneself.

This retreat is a rare opportunity to immerse fully in silence, guided Advaita meditations, and inner exploration. It is a deep journey towards your natural state of peace and profound clarity.

The Power of Satsang
Satsang is a sacred gathering in truth. In Madhukar’s presence, the busy mind quiets down naturally. Through silence, dialogue, and chanting, a tranquil state of consciousness unfolds. Wisdom awakens. Peace emerges from within.

Awaken to Your True Nature
This retreat is for sincere seekers ready to step out of suffering into awakening. Return home not only relaxed and healed, but awake to your true nature—free, joyful, and at peace.

Hence, you will be immersed in utter silence, truly beyond imagination. Yoga at sunrise and a healing vegetarian-Ayurvedic detox diet revive your body and clear your mind. Rising questions can be clarified with Madhukar during Satsang, where it is allowed to speak with him. While fading thoughts clear the space again for the beauty surrounding you, the master is guiding you deeper and deeper into silence—a revelation unfolds.

Sacred Pilgrimage & Spiritual Immersion
• Full moon Pradakshina — twice we walk in silence around Arunachala as thousands of Indians do for blessings & clarity.
• Visits to Ramana Maharshi’s meditation Ashram
• Nature walks — intuitive contemplation in the serene environment
• Sacred Study — Deepen your understanding and connect with timeless wisdom through reading and reflection on holy scriptures
• Participants have the opportunity to explore texts from the Advaita Vedanta tradition, as well as teachings of Ramana Maharshi, Papaji and Madhukar.

Digital & Social Detox
To protect inner silence, retreat participants commit to:
• Complete digital detox (no phones or online devices)
• A vow of silence (Mouna) for the duration of the retreat
This creates the perfect inner and outer space for deep transformation.
Exception: During Satsangs, participants may speak and ask questions towards Madhukar.

You will receive a certificate of your participation in this Enlighten Life Ashram Silent Retreat.

Schedule

The retreat starts on Sunday, January 24, 2027, at 13:00 and ends on Saturday, February 13, 2027, after lunch at approximately 14:00. The retreat languages are English, Dutch, Russian, and German. Satsang with Madhukar is held twice daily in the most beautiful Ashram in Tiruvannamalai, where you also have your accommodation. In addition, free mantra chanting and yoga classes are offered. Experience and enjoy being with a living master in daily Satsang, guiding you home.

Here you have an example of how most days are scheduled: In the mornings, you can join the one-hour yoga classes in the marble hall of the Ashram.
Afterwards, there is breakfast in the dining hall. In the time between breakfast and Satsang, you have the option to join Ashram Seva (voluntary service, e.g., in the Ashram garden). Later in the morning is the first Satsang of the day. After Satsang, you have lunch together. In the afternoon, there is enough time for excursions in the big Ashram area or to just relax. Each day, later in the afternoon, there is tea time in the dining hall. After tea time, a few times a week, there is mantra chanting in the Satsang pavilion. Early evening, you have dinner together, and then the second Satsang with Madhukar takes place.

Digital detox: You agree to shut down all digital devices and to take a vow of silence.

The Pradakshina, a pilgrimage around the sacred mountain during the full moon, wonderful walks in nature, and sitting in Ramana Maharshi’s living room are additional highlights to deepen the silence within you.
