India Retreats

India temple

As the birthplace of yoga, India is an ideal location to participate in a yoga teacher training or yoga retreat. You can find basic and advanced training in all eight limbs of yoga, including asana, pranayama, and philosophy. (India also has many institutions where foreigners can pursue studies in topics like astrology and Sanskrit.)

India has been an important destination for pilgrims for millennia. The heartbeat of India gave rise to not just yoga, but also meditation, tantric traditions, and basically the entire New Age spiritual culture that we have today in the West. So whether you are hoping to practice meditation alone in a remote cave in the Himalaya (if so, good luck with that!) or attend a detox cleanse on the beach in Goa, you will find out why the extraordinary qualities of India have been good for spiritual practice for thousands of years.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

This sounds like a dream! I am an education student and I have spent way too much time working all summer to pay for school. My boyfriend of 5 years is a government firefighter and has been away working most of the summer. His 30th Birthday and our 6th anniversary is coming up this winter, we would love to celebrate with a yoga retreat! We both love yoga but have barley had time to practice in the past few months. Keeping our fingers crossed! Jaimee and Dan
