Advice on starting a retreat center

Meeting people’s expectations. Maybe that’s just me personally because I run it and I’m very close to it. Meeting the expectations of people that aren’t necessarily willing to embrace or open up to the idea of a retreat can be challenging. Some of the people that come to us see all of the awards and accolades that are bestowed upon us and they arrive with a certain expectation of how the experience should be. Our goal is not to please everyone, but rather to offer them the space and permission to relax, surrender and heal. I want people to be able to just let go ~

Don’t do it!! Just kidding…our advice is to listen to people! This is how Gaia has become what it is. From day 1, we have listened to our guests and that is the key to success. You’re never going to please everyone, but it’s so important to let them tell you what you need to do and change.
