Advice on coming back to yourself when you’re overwhelmed with running your business

I started my business because I am passionate about yoga and working with people, but in order to keep things running smoothly I also need to do things like taxes, sales, and deal with staff issues. Facing the realities of business can bring up fear and block the flow of energy. And, people feel my vibration so when I stay in a stuck place nothing seems to work. It’s harder to fill classes and retreats, staff feel something is off, and business generally suffers.

When you notice that you are going in circles and not enjoying what you’re doing, take a break. It is so important to shift your energy so that you can get back into a place of alignment and excitement. What I do is take my own mini retreat. Sometimes I will go to a café and put my headphones in and listed to a talk by one of my teachers. When I am really overwhelmed I find the fastest way to align myself is to go out in nature. For me that usually means surfing, or walking on the earth with bare feet. Or dancing. Yogi Bhajan says there is nothing like free dancing to get back to yourself.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

My last retreat at SMC was so inspiring and so relaxing. But i'd love to have more time there to spend at the Stupa, visit the Kami shrine, and generally interact with the beautiful enlightened society happening on that entire land. Brett
