Nancy has been studying and practicing yoga for many years, and has been teaching since 1999. She spent ten years as part of a community that emphasized mediation, scriptural study, service, chanting and devotion to a spiritual leader, and only occasionally took hatha yoga classes. Following a car accident, she delved more deeply into asana practice to recover from a back injury. Inspired by her own experience of healing, she began teaching. Nancy is a graduate of a three-year Advanced Studies program at the Yoga Room, Berkeley, where she studied with Donald Moyer, Mary Lou Weprin, Gay White, Sandy Blaine and other members of the faculty, and received her certification there in 2006. She took part in the the first Relax & Renew® Training (2001) and the first Advanced Relax & Renew® Training (2006), both with Judith Lasater, PhD at the Iyengar Institute in San Francisco, and is a certified Relax & Renew Trainer®. Nancy holds a M.A. in Education, and a credential for teaching yoga in public school programs for adults. Nancy is registered with Yoga Alliance as an e-RYT at the 500-hour level. She taught for many years at San Lorenzo and Hayward Adult Schools, and at the following studios: Alameda Yoga Station, Castro Valley Yoga, Yoga in the Middle (her own studio, for three-and-a-half years).
