About The Teacher

Living with chronic pain first brought me to yoga in 2001 while I was living in California. I developed a regular practice and soon found a lot more than just the physical benefits; I was hooked. Drawn to the heart, intelligence, and joy of yoga, I spent the next three years studying and practicing full time and soon was teaching classes all over Los Angeles.

One of the first things I learned though my practice was that when you’re not in pain, it frees up a lot of energy and you’re just plain happier.

I returned to Canada in 2003 and was first to introduce Anusara Yoga to Western Canada. I grew my teaching practice throughout Vancouver and Whistler at YYoga Yaletown, The Yoga Practice & Neoalpine Yoga. In 2008, I decided to relocate to beautiful Nelson, BC. The incredible yoga community drew me in but I also longed for an existence with more access to the natural world, playing and exploring the mountains. Nelson provided both, and I am happy to be able to offer a diversity of levels in classes, workshops and teacher trainings here.

I offer well-rounded classes that are challenging yet deeply respectful of each student’s abilities. Using core principles of alignment I am able to assist people experiencing pain due to injury or misalignment. I also offer classes for seasoned practitioners who want to refine and deepen their practice. I strive to provide a fun, supportive and safe environment that students of all levels to bring a new openness and flexibility to body, heart and mind.

If you’re wondering about my creds, I’ve completed over 1000 hours of training with world class instructors and have had the privilege of studying with Dr. Douglas Brooks, a world-renown scholar of Hinduism, south Asian languages, and the comparative study of religions, and Carlos Pomeda, a scholar with over 35 years of training in the traditional practices of yoga and Tantra. I keep up my studies with workshops and training, and of course, my personal yoga practice.
