Karuna is a Sanskrit word that means compassion. The style of yoga that I teach is grounded in and flows from the compassionate heart—compassion and kindness towards ourselves, each other, and our world. In 1970, I journeyed into the wilderness near the Yukon Territory for one year with my partner, Paul, and a life-changing book called Light on Yoga, by BKS Iyengar. Since then I’ve practiced yoga almost every day, and keep falling deeper and deeper in love with this ancient wisdom tradition.

Karuna offers more than a Yoga practice, she offers a sense of community. Whether at a local class, a workshop, or retreat, practicing with Karuna feels like being home with family. I absolutely love Karuna's teachings and the compassionate space she offers. <3
