Professor David Luke

Prof David Luke is a chartered psychologist (CPsychol) and Professor of Exceptional Experience at the University of Greenwich where he taught an undergraduate course on the Psychology of Exceptional Human Experience between 2009-2024, whereafter he took a break from teaching to take up the role of Perrott-Warrick Senior Researcher (administered via Trinity College, Cambridge) to study lucid dream precognition at Greenwich. He is also a Lecturer at the Alef Trust, where he supervises PhDs on transpersonal psychology, and was Programme Leader of the Professional Certificate in Psychedelics, Altered States and Transpersonal Psychology, and tutor on the MSc Consciousness, Spirituality and Transpersonal Psychology (2020-2024). He was recently also Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Psychedelic Research, Imperial College London, and was Guest Lecturer on the MSc Transpersonal Psychology and Consciousness Studies at the University of Northampton (2009-2016).

His research focuses on transpersonal experiences, anomalous phenomena and altered states of consciousness, especially via psychedelics, having published more than 100 academic papers in this area, including thirteen books, most recently DMT Entity Encounters: Dialogues on the Spirit Molecule (2021), and Otherworlds: Psychedelics and Exceptional Human Experience (2019).

When he is not running clinical drug trials with LSD, doing DMT field experiments or observing weather control with Mexican shamans he directs the Ecology, Cosmos and Consciousness salon, housed at the Institute of Ecotechnics, London between 2008-2018, and is a cofounder (in 2010) and trustee, and previous director and chair of Breaking Convention: International Conference on Psychedelic Consciousness. He was also the President (2009-2011) and Vice-President (2011-2013) of the Parapsychological Association.

He has given over 500 invited public lectures and keynotes, and over 100 conference presentations, won teaching, research and writing awards, organised numerous festivals, conferences, symposia, seminars, retreats, expeditions, pagan cabarets and pilgrimages, and has studied techniques of consciousness alteration from South America to India, from the perspective of scientists, shamans and Shivaites.
