About The Teacher

Jnani Chapman is an oncology stress management specialist at St. Mary’s Dignity Health in San Francisco, CA, and a senior staff member at the Commonweal Cancer Help Program in Bolinas, CA, and at the Smith Center for Healing and the Arts in Washington, DC. She was a founding clinician at the UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Medicine (2001 to 2009) and of a UCSF research study and clinical program for women with breast cancer (1997 to 2002).

Jnani is a nurse case manager and cardiac rehab/ stress management Yoga specialist. She worked with Dr. Dean Ornish’s Heart Disease Reversal Program (HDRP), doing research and staffing retreats (1986 to 1999). More recently, she taught Yoga to Dr. Ornish’s early-stage prostate cancer research participants and their partners.

Jnani served as the executive director of the International Association of Yoga Therapists (1995 to 1998). She has also served as a national and international consultant and a co–principal investigator on other Yoga research projects, including nurse-led studies at Vanderbilt University and Wake-Forest University Medical Center, using an adapted YCat curriculum with cancer patients.
