Matt started Yoga when he was five, learning techniques from his mother in order to deal with asthma and allergies. He became dedicated many years later, when life provided the insight that Yoga helps us be ourselves, lose the ‘mask’ and live more freely. He has been teaching Hatha Yoga full time since 1996 and practiced and taught Chinese Martial Arts, (Shaolin, Tai Ji, Qi Gong and Nei Gong), since 1986. He has worked with most sections in society, including the terminally ill, alcoholics, drug addicts, abused children in ‘adult bodies’ and special needs children and adults. Matt wrote a regular monthly ‘Yoga and Wellness’ column for Yoga Magazine International and published ‘How to Breathe – a comprehensive course in pranayama practice’ in 2010. His teaching focuses on awareness and relaxation with particular attention to the breath and spine. He teaches classical formulas of Hatha Yoga to cleanse and relax and the internal practices of Raja Yoga (meditation) to re-enlighten one’s soul connection. Combining such practices in to daily awareness allows one complete relaxation in to the ebb and flow of life’s ever shifting waves. Matt offers yoga classes, 121’s and workshops and retreats which he runs with his wife Dorna.
