Mita Shah

About us

Mita has been interested in the practice of yoga, spirituality and healthy living since her youth. She graduated from Kings College, University of London, with a degree in Biochemistry and subsequently trained in Accountancy. Alongside her successful career in the City, she continued to study and practise yoga, meditation and health therapies and inspire those around her.

Mita qualified as a yoga teacher with the Vivekananda Yoga Research Foundation in Bangalore in 1992 and has been teaching ever since. She also teaches meditation techniques.

Mita’s additional qualifications include an ITEC Diploma in Reflexology, Indian Head Massage, ITEC and MTI diploma in Holistic Massage, Anatomy and Physiology and Prenatal Massage. She is also featured in Miriam Stoppard’s DVD ‘Having a Baby’.

Mita is a volunteer for Isha Foundation – founded by Sadhguru, is a non-religious, non-profit, public service organization, which addresses all aspects of human wellbeing. From its powerful yoga programs for inner transformation and inspiring social outreach projects for society and environment, Isha activities are designed to create an inclusive culture that is the basis for global harmony and progress.

Mita is also a volunteer for Service Space. Founded in 1999 by Nipun Mehta, ServiceSpace was originally started to help non-profits with technical services. Over the past dozen years, the organization has become an umbrella for many generosity-driven projects. Thus it has expanded its services from focusing just on helping charities, to encouraging everyday people to contribute in meaningful ways to the world around them.

Going on retreat is a beautiful way to reconnect to our basic sanity and health. Our aspiration at Retreat Guru is to inspire people to experience authentic retreats and reconnect with their innate wisdom, strength and kindness.
