About the Teacher
Why study with them?
Jim's journey began like so many people looking for help from ayahuasca. He did not feel safe as a child. Had an unpredictably violent, alcoholic father. Never felt like he belonged. Thought a mistake had been made and he was not supposed to be on Earth. Wished he would never wake up when going to sleep. And a half-hearted suicide attempt at 16 that was clearly a cry for help.
For many years he swung between periods of intense spiritual practice and periods of alcoholism.
Eventually, he committed fully to changing his life. Over the next decade he slowly began to feel better, trying many different healing approaches and practices.
In 2008 he attended his first ayahuasca retreat. In the third ceremony something profound happened: the last of last of his depression was removed in a very unpleasant ceremony. When the process finished, He was flooded with joy and was so happy to be alive. He have never been depressed since.
That radical transformation inspired him to learn more about it, and within the next year he was back in Peru in apprenticeship with a maestro.
Over the past 14 years, Jim has been guiding people through a healing process with ayahuasca as his full time work. He has guided over 250 people through our 3-4 week Immersion Retreat program, primarily helping people with long-term (15+ years) depression. At varying levels of involvement, he has coached and encouraged ~1,000 others who came with different issues or less severe struggles.
Jim has amassed exceptional insight and skill over those years, and intuitively knows how to meet people where they are at, and lead them into discovery of their own insights and revelations. One of the gifts the spirits have granted him is to suddenly "know" something about a person that is especially helpful for them to understand and accept themselves. He has no control on when that knowing occurs.
