Huni Kuin Medicine Guardians

About the Teacher

Why study with them?

Txana Budi is a spiritual leader of the Huni Kuin (Kaxinawá) people of the Brazilian Amazon and son of the respected Pajé Txana Huibai of the Upper Jordão River. From a young age, he was trained in the ancestral traditions of his people through plant diets, prayer, and ceremony. As a Txana (sacred musician and prayer singer), he carries the songs and spiritual guidance of the Huni Kuin lineage, serving Rapé (Hapé), Ayahuasca, and traditional forest medicines with reverence and responsibility.

Shakuani is a Huni Kuin woman from Aldeia Boa Vista along the Jordão River. Granddaughter of Meka and Maxi and daughter of Shane Ibu, she comes from a lineage of medicine women and carries a living tradition of weaving, song, and plant wisdom. Through her music and ceremonial presence, she embodies the feminine force of her tradition in service to the forest and her people.

Together, their work supports the preservation of Huni Kuin culture and the regeneration of their land and community in the Amazon.
