At the early age of 17 years old, he started healing patients by hand imposition, with prayers and chants. He made a living treating patients with his hands. He was known as a good ‘huesero’ (bonesetter).
As he wanted to deepen his understanding and knowledge of the sacred medicinal plants, at the age of 20 he found a teacher of Shipibo heritage who sent him to do a two and a half “dieta” deep into the jungle of Pucallpa. He spent this time in isolation working with the plants.
It is only after this experience that he started using ayahuasca to heal his patients.
At the age of 47 years old, he intoxicated himself drinking a mix different medicinal plants. He went back to the jungle in isolation for 9 months to heal himself. When he came out of isolation he met a master/teacher with whom he has been studying with ever since.
