About The Teacher
Sean Esbjörn-Hargens PhD specializes in supporting leaders, teams, and organizations to navigate complexity through developmental and integrative methodologies and practices. His areas of expertise include: executive leader development and coaching; leadership curriculum design and delivery; integral organizational consulting; dynamic facilitation; whole systems design; embodiment and presence, and the application of integrative metatheories.
Sean is the founder of MetaIntegral which is an social enterprise global action network comprised of three companies (a training academy, a consulting firm, and a non-profit). MetaIntegral is dedicated to supporting professionals to “be impact” through the embodied application of integral principles and frameworks.
Sean brings a unique multi-sectoral and international perspective. He has been on the leadership team or advisory board of 10 companies, NGOs, and foundations. In these roles, he has worked with a variety of sectors, including international development, fast-moving consumer goods, sustainability, education, and community health. He has lived in the USA, Chad, Kenya, Bhutan, and England, worked in 9 countries, and traveled extensively.
Sean is a prolific writer and editor and has published over 30 articles and 7 books that have helped leaders effectively deal with complexity and solve organizational problems. Many of his publications are used in universities and leadership programs around the world and have been translated into Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, and Russian. He has made substantial contributions to the fields of integral theory, integral ecology, integral research, integral education, and integral business.
Over the last two decades Sean has worked with extensively with the Enneagram system in a number of contexts: teaching graduate level students, coaching individuals, and consulting organizations. His main focus is on using the enneagram for deep integrative transformation and embodied leadership development.
Sean’s passion comes from his love of being alive, his commitment of looking directly at reality without blinking, and his desire to increase people’s experience of intimacy with Being.
