Catherine Nelson-Reid

About The Teacher

Catherine holds over 1800 hours of formal Yoga training and was the Studio Director and guide for many years of the Bodhi Tree Yoga Centre in Calgary, Alberta. Together these have gifted her with a multifaceted perspective of Yoga, its practices and teachings, and also what is to be human. From 2003 and to this day, she continues to be a committed student on the Yoga path.

Catherine’s daily practice is one of sitting with herself to check in, to step back, and see what is sincerely guiding her, to bear witness to what is steering the vehicle of her being in each moment and each experience. She brings this spaciousness to her work with private students and as a Yoga Life Coach. Compelled by the call to service, Catherine’s compassionate heart infuses each of her offerings. The private practices she creates allow students to experience their own light and love.


Akhanda trained teachers have had a tremendous impact on Catherine’s approach and understanding of Yoga, and she was blessed to finally meet and begin study with Yogrishi Vishvketu in 2008. Catherine is excited to be teaching on the Akhanda Yoga Life Coaching course alongside Prem Robin Campbell at Anand Prakash Yoga Ashram.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

This sounds like a dream! I am an education student and I have spent way too much time working all summer to pay for school. My boyfriend of 5 years is a government firefighter and has been away working most of the summer. His 30th Birthday and our 6th anniversary is coming up this winter, we would love to celebrate with a yoga retreat! We both love yoga but have barley had time to practice in the past few months.
