One of the oldest and most experienced Curandero is not only the region, but the whole of Peru. He is mentioned in almost all sources related to the culture of Amazonian shamanism. In the past, a sculptor, he began to take plants at the age of 39, in search of inspiration to continue for his artistic activities. Continuing to work as a sculptor and as a shaman, he was forced to abandon his original occupation because of the serious illness of both hands, which practically deprived him of the ability to hold tools. For successful treatment, he was forced to pass lengthy diets, after which he completely concentrated on working as a healer. At the moment he is an undeniable authority in the field of Peruvian shamanism. In 2000, his book was written: The Amazon Magic: The Life Story of Ayahuasquero and Shaman Don Agustin Rivas Vasquez, which was later translated into several languages.
