About us

Yoga Del Sol~Mexico has been teaching yoga for over 25 years. Her journey into the 8 Fold Path of Asthanga yoga began with in-depth studies at the Hard and Soft Yoga Institute of NY with Beryl Bender Birch and Sri K Pattabi Jois doing Mysore in New York.
A Bachelor of Art graduate from the University of MN Kat became a performing artist while she trained others and began the Yoga Program at The Firm A.W.S. in the heart of Minneapolis. During the 18 years of teaching/training at The Firm she worked with artists such as Prince, was an Artistic Associate at 15 Head~A Theatre Lab, choreographed works with Reese Witherspoon, worked with Universal Studios on new bands and singers to name a few of the amazing life experiences that she has had.

She continued to study with great yoga masters including Bikram, Baptiste, Kest and many others to develop her dynamic style of vinyasa yoga. Her passion for movement and her studies gives her a great sense of awareness to alignment and sequencing and the ability to teach it to others. She has traveled around the world and sat in silence developing compassion and an awareness of what a spiritual journey entails.

“Today I consider my self a modern yogi. I choose to train outside to stay connected with the earth. Running, hiking, dancing and long walks in the woods. Sometimes I will doing an intense full practice of ashtanga, I have a strong meditation practice and practice pranayama and yin yoga regularly. The desire to stay connected to the earth and be in nature allows me to stay connected to my individual creativity. I remember taking my first yoga class and the energy that it gave me by doing something new. It was an amazing experience. Taking my practice outside gives me that same feeling like my first yoga class did and my creativity exploded. I continue to study masters around the world and I love sharing that knowledge. It is my life’s journey. Teaching others that the greatest teacher is the one inside of us and the path to get there isn’t bound to only in a yoga studio. It’s on the waters of the Caribbean, in the mountains of Peru, in the woods near by and right there within you.”

Kat has lead hundreds of students on their journey into asana, meditation, breathe control and mindfulness. Her yoga retreats have helped her students find balance on and off the mat healing both physical and mental distress while developing life long friendships in the global community of yoga.
Get out of the studio, travel, manifest your next yoga retreat with kat~yoga del sol~mexico and retreats around the world.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

This sounds like a dream! I am an education student and I have spent way too much time working all summer to pay for school. My boyfriend of 5 years is a government firefighter and has been away working most of the summer. His 30th Birthday and our 6th anniversary is coming up this winter, we would love to celebrate with a yoga retreat! We both love yoga but have barley had time to practice in the past few months. Keeping our fingers crossed! Jaimee and Dan
