Gina Farr

About us

Gina has apprenticed to the enchanted nature of our natural world since childhood days in Marin with an orphaned raccoon on her shoulder and a fawn walking beside her on her family's former dairy ranch in west Fairfax. The bucolic land of her childhood is covered now. Only stories and remnants of old Marin remain. Ask her to tell you about an old hermit of the hills, about underground cauldrons teeming with life, and about what happened to the fawn. Her sadness over "paradise lost" at her family's hand laid the groundwork for her lifetime of wildlife advocacy. But it is the practiced holding of both loss and love in hopeful union that inspires her mentoring today. A lifetime of advocacy. Gina's environmental awareness programs have trained thousands of people in renewable energy to identify, appreciate and protect endangered species, to be aware of the potential for paleontological finds, and to respect Native American heritage and sacred sites. She has helped frame the conversation about our American coyote and educated nationally on the topic of coexistence with wildlife. Gina has advised numerous non-profits, individuals, and conscientious companies to communicate with authenticity and connect with heart. For the last ten years, she has faithfully recorded Marin's natural soundscapes, documenting the complex relationships of home. You can usually find her sitting under the wild stars in the middle of the night with her recorder nearby, and sometimes a curious coyote. Gina's specialty is intuitive connection with animals and helping women to discover their own guides and allies in nature.
