Christina Martini is known for her uplifting, energizing, soulful and invigorating classes and retreats. She supports her students to go beyond, deeper into their practice with dedication and trust. With a background in music (playing the piano and singing) she enjoys bringing mantras and chanting into her classes. She empowers her students to better react and utilize this yoga practice for healing, health and inner strength. Her gift for sharing yoga for health and wellness, along with her passionate connection to cancer work as a nurse and patient navigator, makes each class a personal dynamic journey of healing, transformation, purpose and joy.
Christina was trained in classical Ashtanga Yoga, under the guidance of her amazing teachers: Manju Jois, Nancy Gilgoff, David Williams, David Swenson, Tim Miller, Ken Harukuma, and Jo Ichihara. She has been studying yoga and meditation since 2000 and has taken her practice to Guam, India, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, California, Hawaii and back. In her mid-twenties, Christina dedicated herself to the lifestyle of yoga – its practices, traditions and teachings. She was later certified by her teacher Jo Ichihara (direct student of Guruji, Manju Jois) and has since been lucky enough to teach Ashtanga Yoga globally.
Christina opened the Shala Santosha in San Francisco in 2012 to make the practice of yoga available to the community in a city where it is much needed for a balanced life. She has since opened a second location for her Shala in Maui, where she hosts retreats, workshops and trainings. Christina is inspired to rise each morning at dawn knowing each day there is something bigger than herself. Her love for teaching has evolved to sharing workshops, special events, presenting for health and wellness programs, implementing yoga with integrated health in medical facilities, retreats and one on one private sessions for healing.Source: internationalyoga.secure.retreat.guru
