About The Teacher
Barbara (aka Eva) is the founder and director of Breathe True Yoga located in Guelph, Ontario. She is a hatha yoga instructor, expressive arts practitioner, journey dance and 5 Rhythm facilitator, sound healer and visual and performing artist.
She received her chakra yoga 500 hour teacher training in Thailand at the Pyramid Yoga Center in 2016 and 2008, her training in expressive arts at Fleming College through the Haliburton School of the Arts in 2013, her journey dance training with Tony Bergins in Sante Fe, New Mexico in 2013, her sound healers training from Jonathan Goldman in Colorado in 2009, her Soul Motion conscious dance training with Vin Martie in Toronto in 2005.
Barbara has attended numerous long-term meditation retreats at the Ontario Vipassana Center, the Dharma Center of Canada, the Zen Mountain Monastery in upstate New York and Nilambe Meditation Centre in Kandy, Sri Lanka.
Barbara holds a Bachelor of Education degree in Fine Arts Education from York University and an Honors Bachelor of Art (Dance and Theatre) from the University of Waterloo. She has worked for the Ontario School Board for over 25 years as an artist in education and school teacher, as well as Voluntary Services Overseas where she taught theatre for social change in Sri Lanka in 1997-98.
Barbara presently works as a yoga teacher, journey dance facilitator, sound healer, expressive arts practitioner, visual and performance artist and occasional teacher. She runs a private practice in her home in Guelph, Ontario providing people with yoga and sound healing sessions. She also leads workshops and extended retreats at different centres in Ontario including the Ecology Retreat Centre, the Dharma Centre of Canada, Gaia Wellness Centre and Grail Springs Retreat Centre in Bancroft. Her creativity, love of learning and eclectic background all contribute to her unique approach to facilitating and self-expression.
