About The Teacher

For nearly a decade, Amy was a successful private chef and culinary entrepreneur in southern California and Hawaii, as well as a road chef on tour. Known as ‘GourmAmy’ to clients, she specialized in custom crafted menus of Mediterranean-influenced cuisine with an international flair picked up over years of global travel as a surfer. Amy’s a strong believer in the direct transfer of energy that takes place when one person prepares food and another consumes it – the combination of passion and nutrition is what truly fuels minds and bodies! Cooking is also a modern survival skill, which is why a core component of Amy’s culinary business was teaching clients to prepare healthy, delicious and interesting meals. These days, Amy is an agricultural development practitioner, supporting small-scale farmers and rural economic development in southern Africa. Connecting the dots between sustainable food production and consumption is what inspires her continued love for culinary expression!
