Andrea King

About The Teacher

Andrea King is an Aniishinaabe outdoor therapeutic recreationist who is a strong believer in connecting people to nature as a way to bridge our interconnection to self, others and creation. Andrea brings over 20 years of experience in the field of Therapeutic Recreation and 40+ years as an outdoor adventurer and enthusiast. As the Community Sports & Recreation Coordinator within her community of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Andrea developed and facilitated a diversified program to activate children through to elders with an emphasis on activation through a variety of modalities including; sports and games, indigenous art, contemporary arts and crafts, drama, music and dance, aquatics, outdoor education and play based discovery, to help maintain and improve clients and students physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual well being. As an active member of her community, Andrea has a passion for engaging participants by utilizing a holistic approach of experiential learning while encompassing traditional Aniishinaabe teachings. Andrea enjoys spending time on the water in her kayak, the clarity of her yoga mat and engaging conversations with everyone she meets.
