About The Teacher
Zainab Zakari has been teaching flow yoga for over 10 years, and in that time has also led specialized workshops & immersions, as well as designed curriculum and co-led 200-Hour Teacher Trainings. Her teaching passions include highlighting the elemental and subtle body, creative & integrated sequencing, and weaving the spiritual into modern life. She has become a sought-after mentor to new teachers and enjoys sharing what’s she’s learning along the way in the hope that it helps create more conscious and compassionate connections.
Zainab's formal studies began with Lisa Bennett Matkin and Charles Matkin just outside of New York City for her foundational Hatha Vinyasa Yoga training. She went on to study with Prana Vinyasa Flow founder Shiva Rea, and senior trainers Twee Merrigan, Maria Garre, Coral Brown, Monica Mesa Dasi, and Simon Park, before she completed her advanced training in the Prana Vinyasa Flow method. Her flow classes are known for offering multi-layers—from the physical and the mental to the creative and the sacred. She aims to meet students wherever they are on their journey, and she is not above using humor, movie references, dance, poetry, sports, geometry, physics or practical magic to do it. Anchored by insights from all her teachers, Zainab strives to cultivate awareness for alignment in living flow, a playful curiosity when approaching various experiences, and a kind, patient witness to whatever unfolds on and off the mat. Students will be invited and *sweetly* challenged to breathe, to move, to smile, to listen and to trust their inner guide. They will be invited to (re)connect to their Soul.
