About The Teacher
The practice of yoga introduced Dusty to a path of introspection, exploration, self-discovery, and healing once she began to confront issues of anxiety and grief from the loss of loved ones in her life. Yoga is grounding for her and provides an opportunity to cultivate community and receive inspiration from others around her. Dusty is especially drawn to yoga because it reminds her to breathe and gives her an outlet for playful and creative expression while learning to balance strength and flexibility.
Dusty received her Yoga Alliance 200-hour yoga teacher training certification (RYT 200) in 2016 from the Freyja Project in Denver, Colorado. She received her Yin and Restorative Yoga teaching certifications in 2019 from The Yoga Loft in Chicago, Illinois. Dusty teaches intentional, creatively sequenced classes with a focus on alignment. She often incorporates workshop-style guidance and the use of props in her classes in an effort to demystify complex postures and provide students with time to try new things! Dusty is especially passionate about bringing yoga to diverse communities. She has guided yoga classes for youth in low-income neighborhoods in Denver as well as indigenous Mayan youth and adults in Guatemala.
Off the mat, Dusty is passionate about advocating for social justice issues and has spent the past 15 years working for educational nonprofit organizations that support youth from low-income communities in Guatemala, Colorado, and North Carolina. She also enjoys reading, cooking, traveling, and playing in the outdoors.
