About the Teacher

Why study with them?

Hello from the beautiful State of Maine! My story is that I moved around a ton when I was younger, but consider CT my childhood home. My folks moved to Maine when I was at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs NY pursuing a biochemistry degree in addition to my liberal art education. At first I thought when I visited my folks “ Why did you move to the boonies!”, but you know what? the more time I spent in Maine ,the more I fell in love with this place and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else, plus having my brothers and parents nearby is a bonus! I decided to pursue medicine , specifically osteopathic medicine because of its holistic philosophy. I went to the University of New England College of Medicine and graduated in 2001. Women’s health is my passion and I pursued my ob-gyn residency and graduated from Maine Medical Center in 2005. I have worked in many different models of the traditional healthcare system and have found that it does not completely align with why I went into medicine in the first place , to help people , form relationships, and spend TIME with my patients. Thus I chose to open up my own gynecology practice in Falmouth Maine , Higher Ground Women’s Health in May 2022 . A practice is based on direct care, no insurance, no middle man, but accessible care for many. I am the first gynecologist in Maine to go this path, which is who I am , a trailblazer!

Yes, yes I am more than just my degree and job. I love all things bulldog, I have two and they are my world. I have a supportive partner Charlie who loves our dogs as much as I do . I love to sit by the ocean , in fact that is where I feel the most “me” and at peace. As a certified scuba diver , it is magical to be weightless and watch what is under our ocean. Nature and forest is also a great love. Chocolate, chocolate is good :) and music just makes everything better.

Sisterhood is what brought this retreat together (along with mastermind Kristin Sparks) , and let me say I am so happy to have found Kim, Jo, and Kristin during Covid ( Thank you Megan Jo Wilson for bringing us together! ) The concept of sisterhood has been so powerful to me, in fact, I have co-founded a non-profit with Kristin Sparks and Kimberly Allen called Sister Wyrd. The mission is to lift other women up who may not have had the same opportunities that we did. You see sisterhood is magical, and we cannot wait for you to experience it!
