About the Teacher

Why study with them?

Tasha Sonju Ortloff has spent many years creating and facilitating community-based support, mentoring, and listening spaces within nonprofit and contemplative communities. She is a founding member of the Sangha Harmony Advisory Council (SHAC), an advisory and facilitation body within the Mountains and Rivers Order that supports community dialogue, grief-sharing, and practices of deep listening. Tasha has developed and facilitated peer support and mentoring programs, including a women’s mentoring initiative through United Way of Ulster County’s Raising HOPE program. Through both her professional and volunteer work, she has been drawn to creating spaces where people can speak honestly about difficult experiences, feel less alone, and discover resilience through community. Drawing on personal experience and Buddhist practice, Tasha developed Dew Drops in Indra’s Net as a space to explore ambiguous loss and the ways community, reflection, ritual, and deep listening can support people living with grief, uncertainty, and unresolved change.
