Brigitte Martin Powell
Brigitte trained as a Rebirther in Venezuela with Viola Edward in 1995 and has been working with the Breath since, facilitating individual and group sessions in various countries. She is now training rebirthers and breathworkers both in the UK and in France and Belgium.
In 2009 she started, together with Doug Sawyer, the Avalon Institute of Rebirthing (AIR), a Rebirthing school offering a comprehensive professional training as well as a supervision programme.
Brigitte is a practitioner member of the British Rebirth Society (BRS), the national body of professional Rebirthers.
Between 2008 and 2012, she was the President of the International Breathwork Foundation (IBF), which groups professional Breathworkers and people interested in the Breath in more than 22 countries all around the world. She is now a member of its Integrity Committee.
Brigitte was born and grew up in the French speaking part of Switzerland. At 16, choosing a career was not easy. She couln't think of anything that would encompass all of her passions: the world, its people and making a difference. She ended up graduating as an economist and worked for many years for the Swiss government and for an NGO in Lesotho (Southern Africa). Those were very good jobs, but her quest continued.
In 1985, she started to inquire on the path of personal development and her life got better and better. Rebirthing was particularly instrumental in doing so. She loved the way it looked after the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies all at once, with such gentleness and "effectiveness".
Brigitte believes that the most powerful way to make the world a better place is to start with ourselves. After all these years she is more than ever passionate about the world, its people and making a difference, but now she has found the career that matches all these passions perfectly.
Brigitte has been living in the UK for the last 16 years, with her husband Alan and Zoe, their daughter who is now studying in Cardiff.
She works in English, French and Spanish.
