About The Teacher

Chuck Miller began self-practice of yoga earnestly in 1971. Initially studying from whatever books were available at the time. He eventually met Sri K Pattabhi Jois and learned Ashtanga directly from him in October of 1980. Studies with Pattabhi include numerous extended familial encounters in America and more than 2 years of intensive study in Mysore, South India, during 7 trips from 1983 until 1996. He went on to become one of Pattabhi’s senior students and one of a small hand full of the earliest certified teachers. Chuck enjoys teaching with a focus on the holistic nature of Ashtanga Yoga. Teaching it as both a philosophical system as well as a strong practical method. Teaching since 1988, Chuck was Director of Ashtanga Yoga and previous co-owner of the original Yoga Works in Santa Monica, CA. until 2005. Yoga Journal featured Chuck as one of the Innovators in American yoga in an article written in the 1990s.Since the sale of Yoga Works, Chuck travels teaching workshops, retreats and teacher trainings around the world.
