Why study with them?

Astrida Neimanis is a writer, researcher and educator who seeks creative and joyful ways to live collectively in a climate changing world. Much of her work focuses on deepening an understanding of ourselves as part of, rather than outside of, our environments. We are bodies of water! We are the weather! Astrida has collaborated extensively with artists, scientists, teachers, poets, health care professionals, children, and other communities in Canada, Australia, Europe and Asia, as well as with large institutions such as the Tate Gallery (UK), the San Jose Museum of Art (US), the Sydney Biennale of Art (Australia), and the Confluence of European Water Bodies. Her books include Bodies of Water (2017) and, most recently, How to Weather Together: Feminist Practice for Climate Change (2026, co-authored with Jennifer Mae Hamilton), which has been described by Naomi Klein as “a blueprint for an embodied approach to climate change.” She lives and works on unceded syilx lands in Kelowna, BC, where she is also Director of the FEELed Lab (UBC Okanagan).
