About The Teacher

Certified Yoga Instructor Mary Michelle Chua integrates her experiences as a dancer, trail runner and credentialed schoolteacher to clearly lead a graceful blend of breath-led Vinyasa Flow with strengthening expansive yoga postures focused on mindful body alignment.  Attentive to diverse levels and needs, her classes leave you feeling invigorated and centered-- ready to share positive energy with the world around you.  A yogi since 2001, she received her yoga certification through YogaWorks in 2010, after rehabilitating from yearlong dance injuries and volunteering as a teacher abroad for 14 months immersed in a challenging personal yoga practice.  Her love for nature and culture inspired her to start Root 2 Rise Yoga, through which she leads community events and international yoga retreats based on the mission: Root down by deepening your connection to your body, mind and breath to rise in wellness, universal consciousness and connection to the global community.  Find info on Michelle’s classes and retreats at: (contact info blocked)

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

This sounds like a dream! I am an education student and I have spent way too much time working all summer to pay for school. My boyfriend of 5 years is a government firefighter and has been away working most of the summer. His 30th Birthday and our 6th anniversary is coming up this winter, we would love to celebrate with a yoga retreat! We both love yoga but have barley had time to practice in the past few months.
