Anabel Miranda

About The Teacher

Feeling drawn since an early age to nature and sustainable development, Anabel got an Undergraduate Degree for Civil and Environmental Engineering from FSU-Tallahassee. Eager to create a better world through responsible and sustainable environmental designs. After working for several years as an engineer, and keeping a steady yoga since the year 2000, Anabel realized that in order to change the world, she had to focus on letting the changes occur from within herself first. Inspired in one of the most famous yogis of our era, Gandhiji, “Be the change that you wish to see in the world”.

Anabel was first exposed to yoga during a meditation session at a martial arts class that she took as a teenager. After moving to the states to go to school, and over ten years ago she met her first Vinyasa Yoga teacher, Robyn Ceballos. At that moment she realized that this practice would change her way of living. Diving deep into the sacred scriptures, Anabel took her practice beyond asanas, or postures, and discovered the power of meditation and pranayama or breath control.

Anabel started sharing her practice at no cost when she eventually moved back to Panama City, putting herself at the service of whoever wanted to participate in her classes. Then, after moving to Bocas del Toro, she started teaching formal classes at the Bocas Yoga studio, owned by her dear friend Laura Kay. While Anabel was living in the US she made a trip to New York that would change her life. By a recommendation she went to visit Sri Dharma Mittra’s studio in Manhattan. After her first Savasana (corpse pose) in Dharmaji’s studio, Anabel had the sensation that she had come home. Sri Dharma brought a spark to Anabel’s heart that grows bigger every day. Two years after that day, she flew to Barcelona, Spain to take a teacher training with her beloved teacher.

Anabel has been teaching yoga since the year 2005. Her classes went from a very physical Astanga Yoga practice to a very intuitive and spiritual practice. Offering a gift to the Supreme Being that resides on the right side of our heart. Her classes are dynamic and filled with conscious movement and a playful approach to challenging postures, always offering a variety of options for each pose so practitioners from all levels can enjoy. During Anabel’s classes you may find yourself singing mantras, practicing pranayama and meditation, and exploring ways of connecting to the Supreme Being that lies in each of our hearts. The Yoga tree has many branches, and through the practice of each one of them we are capable of connecting to our Highest Self, to find our truth and live it. You will find a Divine intention in everything you do, and your actions, words and thoughts will become a beautiful Offering.

Feeling the necessity of connecting her Chinese roots and continuing her education, Anabel is currently taking a certification in Bio-Energy: Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.

In service of humanity. Om Shanti
