About the Teacher

Why study with them?

Daniel Chambo is a musician, facilitator, and educator based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. For more than 25 years, he has explored music as a pathway to emotional connection, healing, and presence. His work draws from American jazz, traditional Celtic music, North Indian classical music, and Nada Yoga (the yoga of sound), blending these traditions into immersive musical experiences for ceremonies, retreats, and intentional gatherings.
With a B.A. in Music and Experiential Education, over a decade of wilderness and experiential teaching, and extensive training in meditation, somatic inquiry, and emotional healing, Daniel creates spaces where music becomes a catalyst for authentic expression and transformation. Whether performing on bamboo flute, saxophone, or voice, his intuitive and heartfelt approach invites people to connect more deeply with themselves and one another.
Daniel's relationship with music began at age ten when he picked up the saxophone. While technique came naturally, it was discovering jazz—and music's power to tell stories beyond words—that sparked a lifelong calling. That realization has guided every step of his journey, from wilderness education with organizations like Outward Bound to performances in concert halls, festivals, weddings, kirtans, Celtic ceremonies, poetry gatherings, and community rituals.
He's found inspiration in the natural world—birdsong, mountain sunsets, and the quiet wisdom of the living landscape. Today, Daniel's work is devoted to helping others experience music not simply as entertainment, but as a practice of listening, presence, and heartfelt connection.
