Amy MacKay

About us

While studying theatre at university, Amy realized that she preferred the process of being creative over the practice of performance. This realization led her to become a theatre educator, helping others to hone and explore their creative skills. It was while teaching theatre on the East Coast that Amy connected with the Moksha Hot Yoga community and became a Moksha teacher. In teaching yoga, Amy found a system that could help illuminate her whole life. Since 2009, Amy has taught yoga, heated and unheated to classes of all sizes, abilities and orientations on both Canadian coasts. In 2013, Amy welcomed the birth of her second child and opened a yoga studio, Nelson Hot Yoga. Amy’s teaching style is both informal and informative. She invites you to be a student of your own body and to approach your practice with equal parts curiosity and commitment.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

Reconnecting with basic goodness in an environment of people who share a vision for a better society. Wimberly

Retreat Guru's Vision

We believe human beings are innately wise, strong and kind. This wisdom, although not always experienced, is always present. Going on retreat is a beautiful way to reconnect to our basic sanity and health. Our aspiration at Retreat Guru is to inspire people to experience authentic retreats and reconnect with their innate wisdom, strength and kindness.
