At 21 I had not my first, but certainly one of my most powerful awakening experience on a rooftop in Pokhara, Nepal.
Fast forward 20 years, to a time of deep crisis & pain in my personal life. "Leaving" my husband, I camped in a tipi, on the edge of a beautiful pond under giant old-growth trees on my unusually idyllic property (which ironically represented a magnificent manifestation of a childhood wish) I questioned the universe as to what was I meant to do with it all??? While there I finally began to read a yoga book which I had long-ago salvaged from an abandoned house. As far as I knew, I had no previous knowledge of yoga, but it had always made me curious and I always felt I should read up on it....that book changed my whole life.
Oh yeah...and the answer from the universe on that painful day, in a voice as clear as any, said to me "share it (the land) and teach yoga" --quite a prospect for somebody only 30 pages into her first yoga book....but I know what I heard, and I took it seriously. I knew from that moment on, without a doubt-- that this was my life's mission.
I recognized too, that I had always had a very powerful ability to visualize and manifest my desires, I realized that I had not been using this skill as wisely as I could be--so from that moment on, I focused on changing the world for the better, one person at time--one inspiration at a time...thru my business, my writing and other projects, this is now my full time passion.
I have pursued several paths of yoga. I am however, mostly drawn to reading teachings, chanting mantra, chakra dancing and maintain a consistent practice of meditation--which is my ultimate guide.
For several years now I have operated Sun Lotus as an economical yoga sanctuary, enabling people from all walks of life to experience the joys of a yogic lifestyle. Inviting people to share their knowledge and their path with others in a lightly-structured atmosphere--where we share our knowlege and model a true, whole-yoga lifestyle...not just a practice!
I consider myself a yoga-teacher-activist and not a day goes by, that I am not completely dedicated and fully inspired to continue with this mission. As I believe yogic understanding is the only way to bring humanity to a more peaceful, compassionate and abundant life.
