Tracie was born in Australia and moved to Peru in 2009. She is a drug & alcohol counsellor and teacher. She has a history of addiction and has spent over 10 years researching various recovery and rehabilitation methods before deciding to settle in Peru to pursue further study into plants medicines. Trace founded " Corazon Tranquilo" in Iquitos where she offered traditional western counseling alongside the use of Ayahuasca and San Pedro with far superior results than those offered in the west. As interest in treatment through plant medicines increased she started the "Hummingbird Ayahuasca Healing Center", which she ran until mid 2012. Tracie then joined with with Ron Wheelock to help start El Puergero, before setting up and running Phoenix Ayahuasca, a retreat centre in Iquitos, for another 2 years.
After meeting David Walton in the jungle and after many long discussions she has decided to join forces with him, move to the mountains, and help out at Munay Medicina.

I've known Tracie Thornberry for over 5 years since I was a client of hers at a centre she ran in the jungle. The impact Ayahuasca had on me was profound and with Tracie's enouragement I returned to Peru to work with the medicines for 5 years. Tracie is one of those rare people who have walked through the darkness in the valley of their own soul, which personifies the shamanic way. We often characterise the shaman as one who is an indigenous medicine person, performing rituals and communicating with spirits. However, shamans come in many guises some of which are not so obvious. Tracie is an example. Her way is much more subtle and reflects a valuable synergy between Western depth psychology and esoteric shamanism. As a qualified addictions counsellor she possesses skills which are a rare combination of deep listening, non judgement and laser like observations which may be challenging to hear but contain a truth which cannot be ignored. You feel entirely at ease in her company and cannot help but be impressed by the graceful and thoughtful way in which she conducts herself and lives her life. Few people have impressed me as much with their natural understanding of the soul or psyche. Even fewer have impressed me with how gently they work with its' dark corners. For those who wish to experience the healing and learning qualities of the shamanic medicines, guided and supported by an experienced practitioner, Tracie Thornberry exemplifies the best qualities of the graceful and compassionate guide.

Going to a retreat with Tracie was a wonderful experience! She really helped me understand and learn about the medicines we were working with (Ayahuasca, San Pedro, Sapo), and how they were working with me. Tracie's counseling skills and genuine interest in her clients is what makes going to her retreat a truly transformative experience. The amount of healing and insights I got from 10 days with Tracie is more than I have in any other retreat or spiritual activity!

I had the pleasure of meeting Tracie at a retreat I attended at Phoenix Ayahuasca and I can't think of a better person to be doing this type of work than her. She has "walked the walk" so to speak and exemplifies what it means to be a healer on all levels. She is kind, intuitive, patient, compassionate, and very experienced/knowledgeable about plant medicines. She will hold your hand and walk your journey with you if that's what you need at the moment, but isn't afraid to hold up the mirror when appropriate and make you look inside yourself for answers because that's ultimately where they are, waiting to be uncovered by you. Through her own healing and work with others who suffer or are simply seeking Truth, Tracie has found her calling in life and is devoted to helping everybody she comes into contact with. I'm grateful my path crossed with hers (albeit briefly) and am forever imprinted with her love and kindness.
