About The Teacher

Spring Washam is a well known meditation and dharma teacher based in Northern California. She has studied numerous meditation practices and Buddhist philosophy since 1997. She is a founding teacher as well as core teacher at the East Bay Meditation Center located in downtown Oakland. Spring has practiced and studied under some of the most preeminent meditation masters in both the Theravada and Tibetan schools of Buddhism. She has completed a 6 year teacher training program under the guidance of Jack Kornfield and is now on the teacher’s council at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in Woodacre, California. In addition to being a teacher she is also a healer and shamanic practitioner. Spring has worked with plant based medicines for over 8 years, including spending a year living in the jungle doing plant dieta's. Her work includes earth based practices, awakening in the body, movement, dance and yoga. Spring has studied and participated in hundreds of indigenous healing ceremonies and has facilitated group retreats for over 10 years.

Her life’s work is now merging the path of meditation with plant medicine healing, of which Lotus Vine Journeys will play an integral part. Spring will be the lead facilitator and meditation teacher at all 2016 retreats.

      Next-level Instructor & Facilitator

I joined Spring's April 2018 14-day retreat on advice of a trusted friend who called her experience with Spring and Lotus Vine Journeys "life changing." Naturally I came in with high expectations and Spring did not disappoint. The program and agenda were well thought out, and seemed to flow effortlessly. If you've ever organized an event like this, you know that does not happen by itself, it takes meticulous planning, attention to detail and relentless follow up. When the schedule says sharing circle starts at 10 AM, by George, it starts at 10. Spring has surrounded herself with competent and heartful staff who seem to magically operate as one. Spring's Lotus Vine Journeys artfully blends yoga, mindfulness meditation and ayahuasca ceremonies into a powerful combination. Her program and persona attract a diverse group of participants from all over the planet with one thing in common: they're serious about personal exploration and transformation. Aside from the pre-registration interview with Spring, I really did not know her prior to the retreat—now I count myself as a fan and a follower.

      Lotus Vine Journeys

Spring is one of the best Dharma teachers I have ever had the pleasure to connect with. Her ability to weave Dharma teachings with the Shamanic perspective and provide a framework with which to enter the medicine journey is such a blessing. I fondly think of her as the Harriet Tubman of the Medicine Path, helping each individual uniquely move from darkness into light. She was an incredible facilitator pre, post, and during ceremony. I can not recommend working with Spring highly enough. She embodies compassion, wisdom, grace, and a fierce honesty. This combination of qualities is an incredible offering to those who have the opportunity to work with her. Spring is a light warrior, and an inspiration.

“I vow to live each moment fully and to look at all beings with eyes of compassion.” Thich Naht Hanh
