Kate Duncan ~ Team Leader
A free spirited adventurer at heart, Kate has an undeniable passion for being alive. She carries a deep desire to live a full an authentic life, packed full of meaning, kindness and most of all, FUN. Being a lover of both balance and contrast, she is as comfortable at zero as she is at sixty. Kate prefers the extraordinary, the original, and the deeper aspects of life, and is just as likely to be found walking along the beach in high winds and heavy rain, as she is curled up inside her minimalist beach pad working on her book.
Kate believes wholeheartedly in embracing her fears, whether it be during her daily meditation practice, or from her many years of being an adventure sports athlete. From paddling class five rivers in the Himalayas, climbing mountains through the snowy backcountry of Lake Tahoe, or plummeting down the steep mountain bike terrain of the Santa Cruz Mountains, Kate fully embraces the earth. She has been a practitioner of Buddhist meditation for a decade, and more recently gained her Yoga Teacher Training in beautiful Byron Bay. Her real love, though, is the surf, and these days you can find her perfecting her top turns in the beautiful and uncrowded waters of Australia.
Kate has gained a brilliant perspective on life and death in her 14 year career as a Paramedic and a Firefighter, in both California and Australia. In between retreats, she still serves part time as an Intensive Care Paramedic in New South Wales. Her career has been a platform from which to find the value and meaning to that which we call life, and is the driving force behind Kate’s ambition to bring kindness, compassion, love and understanding to the world, and most importantly, to help all of us find our bliss.Source: swellwomen.secure.retreat.guru
