Why study with them?
Violinist and composer Genevieve Walker grew up in a musical household. The sound of a violin tuning was the sound of home. She lived in the classical music world for many years and then as a young adult her interests took her traveling the world. She was influenced by different cultures and approaches to music and began weaving these influences into her playing.
For many years Genevieve has recorded and performed with extensively with Krishna Das and Nina Rao. Genevieve composed her first solo album, Walking Home, when she was pregnant with her first son. Two kids and some life later, she has completed her second solo album, Home Songs. This album is a shift in her orientation, drawing upon the sounds and melodies of everyday life to express a collective ode to the longing and cultivation of home.
In addition to being a violinist, Genevieve is a psychotherapist and yoga teacher. She views her approach to these disciplines as a way to unwind deeper into ourselves and unite with the home that exists within us all.
