Mel Skinner

About The Teacher

Looking back on life, it is faith, determination and courage that have served Mel best – that, and a lot of yoga!

Discovering a new way to reconnect with her body, to heal old traumas, and find a place of stability on this earth, Mel believes that yoga offers everyone the chance to fully engage with life.

Mel has trained in hatha yoga, but enjoys practicing Iyengar, Ashtanga and yoga nidra. Fascinated with how yoga philosophy still applies today, Mel loves reading, writing and talking about yoga to anyone who will listen. Find more on her writing here.

Mel is a Yoga Alliance associate teacher level II, teaching for 2 years with over 1000 hours of teaching and training experience behind her.  Mel is grateful to teachers she has worked with or been influenced by, including Sri Pattabhi Jois, B.K.S Iyengar, Laura Gilmore, Uma Dinsmore-Tuli, Alexandra Pope, Lana Hunt, Matthew Sanford, James Reeves and Donna Farhi.

On retreat, Mel combines her teaching of restorative yoga, yin yoga, and yoga nidra – all of which will bring a deep sense of letting go in the body and mind. She holds the space in a relaxed and informal, yet powerful, way – her passion for the transformative and healing power of yoga leaves students feeling inspired, refreshed, and aware of their potential.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

To reconnect with my inner self, found ground through the movement of my body and breath. Awake. Jane
