About The Teacher

Visiting Teacher Sannyasin Pragyadhara returns to the New Zealand shores after spending nine years immersing herself in Yoga teaching, yogic sadhana and disciplines and sannyasa lifestyle. Choosing a path of simplicity and integrity she underwent rigorous yogic and sannyasa training in India in which the focus was cultivating strong minds that can respond positively and creatively to life.

“The power of the land in Aotearoa, New Zealand and the potential of the people have captured my heart and mind to motivate, inspire and deliver authentic yoga experiences to improve the quality of life for all”.

She imparts simple yet profound tools for a wide range of people from those looking to gain better health to those wanting to transform their lives. She teaches from a platform of depth that is experienced empowered, knowledge infused and reflects pragmatic grounded wisdom. 

Currently the Director of Yoga Education at Kawai Purapura Yoga Retreat and a lead tutor on the Wellpark College Diploma of Yoga in Grey Lynn, Auckland, she looks forward to delivering yoga programs that have classical roots alongside modern evolutionary forms. Her vision is to share not only her love of yoga but to develop practice based programs that combine experience and knowledge of deepening yoga practice and integrating lifestyle elements.  Drawing on her extensive yogic lifestyle, yogic psychology training and experience in education and teaching. She is passionate about the benefits of yoga for personal and social evolution and the specialized applications of yoga programs for those with diverse backgrounds.

Pragyadhara’s training was based on the teachings of the Bihar School of Yoga, also known as Satyananda Yoga. This internationally renowned system of Integral Yoga focuses on harmonizing the mind, body, and emotions. It is a systematic approach to self-transformation, grounded in both ancient practices and modern science.

Trained and accredited by the Satyananda Yoga Academy Australia, which offers one of the most comprehensive yoga teacher training courses in the world. Her expertise is grounded in many years of dedicated personal practice, yogic lifestyle and teaching.


Touring and teaching

Pragyadhara has instructed and lectured on the Yogic studies and Yoga Teacher Training courses at the Satyananda Yoga Academy, Australia and at the Bihar School of Yoga, India. In 2013 she toured different states in India as part of the all-India Yoga Yatra conducted by Bihar School of Yoga and held seminars in Delhi and Calcutta. She travels to teach and facilitates yogic retreats in China, Australia and in New Zealand.
