About The Teacher
Erik Jampa Andersson is a practitioner and instructor of Traditional Tibetan Medicine and the Yuthok Nyingthik. He is one of the few westerners to have completed a comprehensive education in the Gyu-zhi (Four Medical Tantras), an earth terma of Traba Ngönshe, as well as clinical training in Tibetan herbalism, dietetics, and manual therapies. Erik Jampa maintains a clinical practice in Los Angeles, where he is also part of the medical and astrological faculty at The Sorig Institute, though he travels widely across Europe and Asia. Erik first met the Dharma at age 13 while living in nearby Durango, where a young interest in spirituality led him to begin sitting with a teen meditation and study group at the Durango Dharma Center. After a particularly moving experience reading the life story of Padmasambhava, Erik decided that he wanted to be a Nyingmapa, and began searching for a guru. It wasn’t long before he was led to his heart’s home at Tara Mandala, and he has been a devoted student of Lama Tsultrim’s ever since. Today, Erik is an apprentice teacher and senior umdze in the Tara Mandala community, with a specialty in the Chöd tradition. After a stint in Tibetan studies at Naropa University, Erik underwent a five-year training in Tibetan Medicine at the Shang Shung Institute, followed by a five-month medical internship in Kathmandu. He received additional training in TTM, healing yoga, and the Yuthok Nyingthig (the spiritual tradition of Tibetan Medicine) from his Sowa Rigpa guru, Dr. Nida Chenagtsang. Erik is a proud member of Sorig Khang International.
