About us

Dr. Kathleen A. Paciga, “Katie,” is an educator, researcher, and family gal. She earned a B.S. in Elementary Education and a B.A. in Spanish from Loyola University Chicago in 2002; a M.S.Ed in Instructional Leadership from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) in 2006. She completed her doctoral studies in Curriculum & Instruction with a concentration in Literacy, Language & Culture from UIC in 2011. Katie began her career as an educator with six years of primary level teaching experiences in schools serving a low income and English language learning population. She connects those experiences to her college level teaching and teacher professional development. Katie presently is employed as an Assistant Professor of Education at Columbia College Chicago. Throughout her tenure in higher education, Katie’s teaching and research interests have specialized in the fields of early language and literacy development, teaching, and assessment with specific attention to the role of media and technology in those domains.Her work has been published in several peer-reviewed journals and much of it is indexed on Academia.edu.
