About The Teacher
Heather Scott has lived in the neighborhood of Dorje Denma Ling since before it existed. She first connected with Shambhala when she attended a Level I there in 1994, eventually becoming a student of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche.
Heather has experience working in a number of nonprofits, and was instrumental in setting up and establishing Shambhala Online where she served as its first director until 2012 when she retired to complete a Masters degree in Transformative Leadership at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) Upon graduation, Heather continued at CIIS in the doctoral program in Transformative Studies until 2015 when she was appointed Executive Director at Dorje Denma Ling by the Sakyong.
Heather also has a BA in Theatre and a diploma in Radio Broadcasting. Her career path took her through 25 years of sales, marketing, communications and public relations as well as a long-term position as Executive Director of a non-profit organization focused on environmental education. Heather served on the Federal Council of the Green Party of Canada for one term, the board of directors for Clean Nova Scotia for seven years, and the Governing Council for Dorje Denma Ling for six years.
Currently, Heather lives in Wallace, Nova Scotia and grows food biodynamically with her partner of 24 years, Silvana. She practiced as a Registered Holistic Nutritionist since 1997 and was a senior instructor at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition in Halifax, teaching Ecology and Nutrition.
