About us

Kate Mitcheom MSN, CNM, RYT has been practicing meditation since 1991 and teaching meditation since 1995 after studying MBSR at Omega Institute with Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D. and Saki Santorelli. In 1996, she founded the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program (MBSR) at the Fair Haven Community Health Center in New Haven, CT, where she teaches meditation to pregnant women and their partners and offers MBSR for patients with chronic and life-threatening illnesses.

      Skilled and compassionate

    Kate is everything you would want in a mindfulness/yoga teacher. Her years of training and experience shine through, as well as her heartfelt approach. You will not regret any class or retreat you take with Kate!

      Memorable

    I've been on retreat twice now with Kate as the leader, coordinator, and Mindfullness Instructor. Both locations thoughtfully selected - serene, beautiful - with good optional excursions providing a full, balanced experience. Food good, healthy, plentiful! The groups are 20 or less folks, mostly women but men too. Kate has years of experience as health care provider, yoga and mindfulness instructor and is attune to the needs of the group so can adjust as necessary. Likes to laugh (even at herself), has good sense of humor, and goes with what the universe presents! I often return in my mind to our retreats, and use the lessons in my daily life. Another bonus is her yoga colleague providing anatomy, balls, and philosophy for all levels of practitioners. Everything is provided lightly, with good humor and gratitude for the shared experience. Memorable!!!

      You Will Love Her!

    I have both co-taught with, and been a student of, Kate Mitcheom. I loved doing both. She brings all the wisdom, savvy, humor, integrity, energy, enthusiasm, and open-heartedness that allowed her to steadfastly bring both mindfulness and excellent prenatal care to inner city teen girls for many years, to her mindfulness classes and retreats. She makes me laugh, she makes me think, she inspires me. I love spending time with her, and learning from her, and I bet you will, too.
