About the Teacher
Why study with them?
Christina Exarchou spent most of her early years training as a competitive rhythmic gymnast in Greece. Following a year of consistent illness due to exhaustion, she was later told to give up gymnastics and focus on her recovery. It wasn’t until later, in 2007, that she discovered the Ashtanga Yoga system and was instantly drawn to its dynamic, structured and grounded approach. She then committed to a daily Mysore-style practice in the tradition of Sri K Pattabhi Jois which combines the discipline of physical practice (asana) with it’s related philosophy.
She made her first trip to India in 2009 to study with Rolf Naujokat and completed a Yoga Alliance 200 hour Ashtanga Yoga Training with authorised (by Pattabhi Jois) teacher Caroline Klebl the same year. From 2012-13 she trained as an apprentice with Sarai Harvey-Smith in Triyoga, London and continued her yearly studies with Rolf Naujokat in India. In 2015 she travelled for the first time to the Krishna Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute (KPJAYI), Mysore, India. She then returned to assisting at Triyoga, this time apprenticing with Ursula Scott from 2016 – 2018. Currently, she is working through the Advanced A series and is based in Athens, Greece. She continues to study annually under the guidance of R. Sharath Jois, and has received the Authorisation (Level 2) by him to teach.
