Tara is the founder of Himalayan Yin Yoga. It is Tara's fervent desire to foster Himalayan Yin Yoga teachers who teach from their heart and creativity. As a teacher of teachers Tara believes passionately teachers need to set out on a journey of personal transformation before they are ready to teach Yoga to others. This is particularly true with Yin Yoga as it is a practice that is personal and unique to each practitioner. As the Himalayan Yoga tradition is one to which a person will feel "called" Tara seeks teachers who are committed to lifelong learning. Tara commenced studying traditional Chinese medicine in the 1970’s. During this time she also studied other Taoist energetic practices such as Qi Jung and Tai Chi. Movement has always been Tara’s main mode of expression. From a very young age she expressed herself through classical ballet, highland dance, hockey, dragon boating and triathlons. Tara believes movement and sound connect her to the divine. Yoga did not come naturally to Tara. It took her many years of Yang activities such as sporting disciplicnes that pushed her mind and body to the edge physically, mentally and emotionally and subsequent injuries before she was able to embrace the Yogic path. In 2010 Tara took her first Yin Yoga class and immediately recognized this practice coupled with her 20 year experience of Buddhism was her spiritual path. She knew she needed to teach this practice. Tara passionately believes she can only teach what she practices.
