Subha Srinivasan

About The Teacher

Hailing from a musically inclined family, Subha Srinivasan, has long been associated with the Lalgudi family for her musical learning. She was very fortunate to learn from Smt. Lalgudi R Rajalakshmi, the sister of the legendary violinist, Sri Lalgudi Jayaraman from a young age. She had rigorous training from Smt. Rajalakshmi for over 12 years, during which time, she performed for AIR, Bangalore and local sabhas. She continues to get guidance from her. She also had a couple of years of training from Smt. Anuradha Sridhar, another member of the illustrious Lalgudi family during her stay in California, USA.

On moving to the US in 1992, she has performed in cities all over the United States. Subha has also been regularly performing for music sabhas in Chennai during the December Music festival every year.

Known for her deep passion for our rich Carnatic Music, having started a music sabha with her husband in Charlotte, NC, she has been teaching several students for many years & continues to do so. She is also associated with the Chinmaya Ashram in New Jersey, where she renders her services in teaching young children to keep this tradition alive & thriving.
