About The Teacher

Christie Bates (Passatininna) is a Dharma teacher, contemplative therapist and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Tennessee. She has extensive background working with individuals and families in recovery from addictions, mental health disorders, chronic developmental stress and acute trauma, both in and out of 12-step culture and Buddhist recovery circles. Her training has included 11th Step practice, Buddhist meditation and contemplative Christian practice. She has sat retreat with Phillip Moffitt and Gordon Peerman, Lisa Ernst, Noah Levine, Matthew Brensilver, Ajahn Sucitto and Heartwood Refuge’s Co-Abbotts, Venerables Pannavati and Pannadipa. Continuing her education in the Dharmacharya path with Venerables Pannavati and Pannadipa, she was ordained Acharya Passatininnia into the Embracing Simplicity Contemplative Order on October 30, 2016. She is founder and teacher for Embracing Simplicity – Nashville, originally NABRS Meditation Group, a Dharma community in Nashville.
