Loretta West

About The Teacher

Loretta West has a zest for life and it shows in her artwork.  She spends her life making art in her studio and teaching students about art and how to relax using the meditative art form, Zentangle®, of which she is certified to teach. She is also a trained SoulCollage® Facilitator. In the past, she has taught in many settings, including as a Teaching Artist for Dale Chihuly’s non-profit, Seniors Making Art.  Her work is energetic, colorful and impressionistic. She loves to have fun while making art, mixing things up from mediums, to color, design, and various techniques. She is not a purist, but an experimentalist. Over the years, she has trained in various situations, from university settings to private instruction. She is also influenced by plenty of travel in North America and Europe. Her work is in private collections in the United States and Canada. If she isn’t wetting the brush, she can be found out doors exploring her beautiful surroundings by foot, ski, bike, sail or kayak. You can also check out her website and her blog.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

It would my first vacation in the mountains. I think getting away and beginning a new routine would be good for me and a friend. Dianne
